Bihar: Election Commission releases list of 65 lakh names removed from voter list

In Bihar, the Election Commission released the list of 65 lakh voters on its website late on Sunday night, who were not included in the draft list of Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

On August 14, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order asking EC to release the list of 65 lakh voters who have been excluded from the draft list.

The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi had said in its order that this information should be made available booth-wise and every voter should be able to search it with his EPIC number.

The court had also told the commission that it should be clearly mentioned on what basis the names of the voters were not included in the draft.

Apart from this, the Supreme Court had directed that Aadhar card should also be included as a necessary document in the SSR process.

The Supreme Court had given the Election Commission time till 5 pm on Tuesday, 19 August to publish this list.
