Bihar Voter Adhikar Yatra: What Rahul Gandhi said about Election Commission, Election Commissioner and BJP?
During the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of biased attitude in a joint press conference in Araria on Sunday. Earlier, Rahul rode on a bike during the Yatra and a large number of supporters accompanied him.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also joined the yatra, riding another Bullet motorcycle with his bodyguard as pillion. Alongside him were Mukesh Sahni, CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, underscoring the opposition’s united front in Bihar.
Rahul said, "There is an alliance between Election Commission, Election Commissioner and BJP."
Rahul Gandhi said that when he complained about SIR (Special Intensive Revision), he was asked for an affidavit.
He alleged that a few days later Anurag Thakur also held a similar press conference, but no affidavit was asked from him.
Rahul Gandhi said, "We both said the same thing, but an affidavit was immediately asked from me and not from Anurag Thakur till date. This makes it clear with whom the Election Commission is standing."
Rahul Gandhi alleged, "SIR is a method of institutional theft in Bihar. Names of lakhs of voters were deleted. The Opposition is complaining but BJP is not complaining because there is a partnership between them and EC."
Institutional theft
Speaking to journalists in Araria, Rahul Gandhi says, 'SIR is a method of institutional theft. Every party is alleging irregularities in voter verification, yet the BJP remains silent. Why? Because there is an alliance between the BJP and the Election Commission'.
However, on Rahul Gandhi's allegation, Election Commission had said that if you are not a voter of the concerned area, then you will have to give an affidavit.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had said, "Where you are talking about irregularities and you are not a voter of that assembly constituency, then according to the law you will have to give an affidavit."
"You can register your complaint as a witness and you will have to give an oath to the Electoral Registration Officer and that oath will have to be recorded in front of the person against whom you have complained."
He told that this law is many years old and is applicable to everyone in the same way.
Rahul rides on bike, says gear has changed
Meanwhile, during the Voter Adhikar Yatra, Rahul Gandhi rode on a bike. He said: The gear has changed, the youth has awakened. Vote thieves will no longer be spared. Every vote will be accounted for.
