How New AI Tool Will Identify Bird Flu And H5N1 Patients?

As diseases are increasing worldwide, treatments are being discovered at a similar pace. Artificial intelligence is playing a major role in this process. Recently, American scientists developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can quickly identify patients who may be infected with the bird flu (H5N1 virus).

The special thing about this tool is that it scans the doctors' notes written in the electronic medical records (EMR) of hospitals and finds out which patients are at risk of bird flu.

AI ​​model recognizes the symptoms

The new artificial intelligence (AI) tool works in a special way. The AI ​​model recognizes the symptoms of the patient (such as cough, fever, blocked nose, redness in the eyes). It checks whether the patient has recently gone to work in such places where there is a high risk of bird flu, such as poultry farms, working among chickens, or farms with livestock. 

Apart from this, through this tool, if there is any kind of danger to the patient, then it marks it as a 'high-risk' case. In 2024, the data of 13,494 patients of US hospitals was checked with this AI. All of them had symptoms like high fever, cough or swelling in eye.

How patients were detected

This tool has been used to detect patients infected with bird flu. It is said that AI identified 76 of these patients who may have been in contact with bird flu. Later investigation found that 14 patients had recently been close to chickens, wild birds or cows and buffaloes. This AI took only 26 minutes to complete the work. The cost per patient was only 3 cents (about Rs 2.5). This proved that AI can quickly detect some special cases even among thousands of patients.

AI tool can help in alerting before the epidemic spreads

Researchers say that till now we are not able to know how many people have come in contact with bird flu, and how many should be tested. Because of this, the infection is often ignored. This AI tool can help in alerting before the epidemic spreads by bringing those cases to the fore. In the future, using this, a network can be created across the country, which will keep an eye on new infectious diseases and help in saving people in time.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
