Sports Science Center at Bhopal's Nathu Barkheda will give a new identity to Madhya Pradesh; how it will benefit sportspersons?
Bhopal is now going to become a national hub of sports science and high performance training. The Sports Department is setting up a state-of-the-art Sports Science and High-Performance Center at the Sports City located at Nathu Barkheda at a cost of about 25 crores. This center will be equipped with the latest sports technology and scientific research, which will provide complete support to the players in increasing physical capacity as well as mental toughness, injury prevention and performance improvement.
Experts say that many sports require deep attention and scientific approach. Often talented players fail to achieve goals only due to technical deficiencies, psychological pressure or injuries. At present, only skill or good coaching is not enough in sports. In tough competition at the international level, players have to work on every weakness that affects their performance. Such as psychology, nutrition, biomechanics. In view of such scenarios, the need for a large-scale sports science center was felt in Bhopal.
Main features of the center
This sports science center being built in Bhopal will be the first such model in the country, where integrated training of physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, psychology, biochemistry and nutrition science will be available to players in a single campus.
State-of-the-art laboratories and units are being built for the players in the center. These include physiology lab, which will have VO2 max testing, body composition analysis, biomechanics lab in which motion capture, gait analysis, force-plate testing facilities will be available.
Apart from this, psychology unit will be set up in which work will be done on mental strength, stress and anxiety management of players. Nutrition and biochemistry support unit will also be established in the center, in which players will be monitored with blood marker testing and scientific diet support.
At the center, expert scientists from various fields, psychologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists and data analysts will prepare personal profiles of the players and advise them to improve their performance. Training programs will also be prepared according to the weaknesses and needs of the player.
The Sports Science Center will not only take the performance of Madhya Pradesh players to new heights in international events like Olympics and Asian Games, but will also provide the benefits of scientific training to the emerging players of the state. This initiative will make Bhopal a national hub of sports science and will accelerate the long-term strategy of making India a global sports power.
