What did Mallikarjun Kharge say on the proposed bill to remove ministers from their posts?
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has alleged that the Modi government will use the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Vice Presidential election.
The 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill has a provision to remove ministers from their posts who are detained or arrested for at least 30 days in cases of corruption or serious crime. Kharge said that this bill is being brought to target the opposition.
In a conversation with the media, Kharge said, "Now this bill has gone to the Joint Select Committee. What happens next? We will see. They have all the laws. Many people have been implicated in ED, CBI and IT cases."
Kharge said, "What is the Criminal Procedure Code for? Are the laws that have been in place for the last 75 years useless?"
Kharge sais this bill should have been brought with everyone's confidence, but instead an attempt is being made to scare the opposition and bring their alliance parties to their side by showing the fear.
