Asia Cup 2025: What Kapil Dev said about India-Pakistan handshake controversy
Former cricketer Kapil Dev has urged against giving too much hype to the controversy surrounding the Indian team not shaking hands with Pakistani players during the Asia Cup 2025, as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) demand for the removal of the match referee.
Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev said, "I think these are small matters. Whether or not to shake hands...if one person doesn't like to shake hands, that's fine. There shouldn't be such a big controversy over it."
He said that it's not appropriate for cricketers to make big or false statements, but some cricketers say things that can create controversies.
Kapil Dev said, "I would just say that it's a game, it's cricket. Play cricket, and I don't think it's better to discuss it further."
On the question of PCB raising questions on the match referee, Kapil Dev said, "It does not matter. That is their job, they have to do it."
