Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Are NDA and INDIA Bloc unable to finalize seat-sharing arrangements?

🎧 Listen to this Article:

The Bihar Assembly elections-2025 are coming up soon, and both the NDA and INDIA groups are having disagreements about how many seats the member parties of each group would get. This has led to some arguing among member parties as they try to get bigger share. These talks show how tricky it is to keep everyone in the alliances happy, as important partners want more seats for themselves.

 NDA having a tough time

The NDA is having a tough time deciding how to share seats for an election. The BJP and JD(U) seem to have agreed on contesting 101-102 seats each, but smaller parties are not happy with this. Chirag Paswan's party wants 40 seats, and Jitan Ram Manjhi's party wants 25. This disagreement is making it hard for the NDA leaders to come to an agreement. They are thinking of offering Paswan's party 20-25 seats and Manjhi's party 10-12 seats, but both leaders are refusing this offer.

To help solve this problem, it's said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will step in and talk to each party separately.

Rahul, Tejashwi said their parties will run on all seats

The INDIA Bloc is also having difficulty in agreeing on seat sharing, especially between the RJD and Congress. They have talked many times, but they still can't come to an agreement. Congress wants at least 65 seats, while RJD has offered 40 seats, which includes 19 seats they already hold and 21 where they lost by a small number of votes in the last election.

Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have told their team in Bihar to be ready to run for all the seats. This is seen as a way to pressure the RJD. The situation got even tenser when RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also said that his party might also run for all 243 seats by itself.

Other allies in INDIA Bloc are also asking for their share of seats

To make things more complicated, other allies in the INDIA Bloc are also asking for their share of seats and even want the Deputy Chief Minister's position, which is causing more disagreements. Because of this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi might need to step in for one last round of talks to keep the alliance from breaking apart.

The ongoing talks show how important the upcoming elections are, as both alliances are struggling to find a way to satisfy everyone involved.
