BMW Accident: Deceased Finance Ministry official Navjot Singh had recently celebrated wedding anniv, son said his parents were not taken to nearby AIIMS Hospital
A senior government official died in a BMW car accident in the capital Delhi. The woman driving the car accused in this accident has been taken into custody by the police as soon as she was discharged from the hospital.
According to the police, the accident took place near the Delhi Cantonment Metro Station on Sunday afternoon, when the BMW car hit a two-wheeler from behind. The two-wheeler rider, Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh (52), died on the spot, while his wife is seriously injured.
The police have registered a case against the car driver under several sections including culpable homicide and have intensified the investigation.
The report quoted eyewitnesses as saying that immediately after the accident, the couple in the car (the woman driver in the BMW and her husband) took the injured to the hospital with the help of a taxi passing by.
Eyewitnesses also told the police that a woman was driving the car. The front part of the car was badly damaged due to the collision.
Injured Navjot Singh and his wife were rushed to Newlife Hospital in GTB Nagar, North Delhi, far away from the accident site.
On reaching there, Navjot Singh was declared dead, while his 50-year-old wife was admitted for treatment.
Meanwhile, the couple travelling in the BMW also got injured in the accident and were also admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Shortly after the incident, the police were informed from the same hospital in GTB Nagar that Navjot Singh had died and his wife was undergoing treatment.
'My parents were taken to a private hospital about 22 km away'
Navjot Singh's family is in deep shock due to this accident. Navjot's son alleged that instead of taking them to the nearest big hospital like AIIMS located near the accident site, his parents were taken to a private hospital about 22 km away.
He also claimed that despite her critical condition, his mother was made to sit in the lobby of the hospital, while the slightly injured person in the BMW car was admitted immediately.
According to Navjot's son, "Due to this negligence and delay, my father was declared dead and my mother kept groaning in pain."
The family later admitted Navjot's wife to another hospital for better treatment.
However, the hospital administration has rejected the allegations of negligence. The hospital administration said, "The hospital informed the police officials on time and followed all the necessary legal and medical protocols. Our medical team provided timely and appropriate care to each patient in an emergency situation, in accordance with all ethical standards."
'My diamond like child is gone'
Navjot's mother Gurpal Kaur said- My diamond like child is gone. Injustice has been done to my child. My daughter-in-law is also badly injured, she is in the hospital. She had fainted and when she regained consciousness she was in the hospital. Both of them did not get any care.
She further said- My child was thrown in the hospital as if he was abandoned. Showing off one's BMW is not a good thing. I want the woman driving the car to be punished. I have such an intelligent child, he was going to get promoted in two months. Navjot's mother said- He never went by bike, that day he thought of going by bike. Both son and daughter-in-law had put on helmets but what happened?'
Navjot Singh had celebrated his 21st wedding anniversary this month. He would have celebrated the birthday of his only son a day later on 16 September. The family had planned celebrations. But who knew that the same day would turn into mourning for this house.
