Jasmine Lamboria etches history, bags Gold at World Boxing Championship, what she said after victory?
Jasmine Lamboria of India has won the gold medal at the World Boxing Championship. She won this medal in the 57 kg category.
The Boxing Federation of India said, "After being cautious initially, Jasmine made a comeback in Round-2 and Round-3 and defeated Paris Olympics 2024 silver medalist Julia Szeremeta of Poland for the featherweight gold at the World Championships, in Liverpool, on Saturday night."
'My only goal was to make my country proud'
Jasmine Lamboria has won her first World Championship medal. She said, "This is my first medal and I am feeling very good as I have become the world champion. My only goal was to make my country proud."
Jasmine said, "Today I have been able to win the gold medal because of our coach, supporting staff and federation. I am very happy."
Became ninth Indian boxer to be crowned World champion
Following the victory, Jaismine became the ninth Indian boxer to be crowned World champion.
She joined an illustrious list, featuring six-time winner Mary Kom (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2018), two-time winner Nikhat Zareen (2022 and 2023), Sarita Devi (2006), Jenny RL (2006), Lekha KC (2006), Nitu Ghanghas (2023), Lovlina Borgohain (2023) and Saweety Boora (2023).

The World Boxing Championship tournament is being played in Liverpool. Before Jasmine, India's Nupur has won silver in the 80+ kg category and Pooja Rani has won bronze in the 80 kg category.
