Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that water is life, and it brings vigor to life. He emphasized that developing tourism activities around water is the government’s goal, adding that the thrilling adventure of water sports will now become the new identity of the Gandhi Sagar Dam. 

Speaking at the inauguration of the fourth edition of Gandhi Sagar Forest Retreat in Mandsaur district on Friday, CM Mohan Yadav said that the natural beauty of the dam’s catchment area and backwaters surpasses even the valleys of Switzerland. Gandhi Sagar, already famous as a habitat for vultures, is now also home to cheetahs

CM inaugurated the Tent City

CM said today, Gandhi Sagar is gaining recognition in India and abroad for water sports and wildlife tourism. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Tent City developed by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation in the backwater area of the dam.

CM Mohan Yadav said that Gandhi Sagar lies within the spiritual influence of Lord Pashupatinath, on the banks of the Chambal River, which eventually connects with the Ganga. 

Water sports activities have begun at Gandhi Sagar

The Chief Minister said that water sports activities have now begun at Gandhi Sagar, making the entire region an attraction for domestic and international tourists. 

CM Dr. Yadav also mentioned that Mandsaur is known not only for Gandhi Sagar but also for opium cultivation. 

MP Sudhir Gupta said that Gandhi Sagar and the Chambal region have immense tourism potential, being already renowned for vulture conservation and butterfly habitats. In the coming years, Gandhi Sagar will become the state’s most prominent water tourism destination.
