Former cricketer Mithun Manhas has been elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This information was given by BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla.

The President's position was vacant after former Indian all-rounder Roger Binny resigned in August this year. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla had been serving in the position on an interim basis since then.

Mithun Manhas is the first uncapped cricketer (a player who has not played for the Indian national team) to reach the top post in the BCCI.

Mithun Manhas is originally from Jammu and Kashmir but played domestic cricket for Delhi and captained the team.

Manhas played 157 first-class matches from 1997-98 to 2016-17, scoring 9,714 runs. He scored 4,126 runs in 130 List A matches, and 1,170 runs in 91 T20 matches.

Due to his impressive performance in domestic cricket, Manhas was selected for the inaugural IPL season. He made his IPL debut with the Delhi Daredevils in 2008. He then joined Pune Warriors India in 2011 and later became a part of the Chennai Super Kings team.

In the fourth season of IPL, he was contracted for US$260,000 by Pune Warriors. In the seventh season of the Indian Premier League, he was contracted by the Chennai Super Kings.

In February 2017, Manhas was appointed assistant coach of Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab.

In October 2017, Manhas was announced as the batting consultant of the Bangladesh Under-19 team. He was their batting consultant till 2019.

Manhas was hired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore as their assistant coach for the 2019 IPL.

In 2022, Manhas was appointed assistant coach of Indian Premier League side Gujarat Titans.
