Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: VIP Chief Mukesh Sahni quits electoral fray, says his goal now is Deputy CM position, will campaign for Grand Alliance

As the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections-2025 approaches, political activity in the state has intensified. Friday was the last date for nominations, and a major political announcement has been made. Mukesh Sahni, head of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and a key figure in the Grand Alliance, has made it clear that he will not contest this election. Sahni said that his focus now is not on any assembly seat, but on the Deputy CM position. He stated that his party will campaign vigorously for the Grand Alliance candidates.

Reconciliation in the Grand Alliance, VIP's sacrifice

After the recent turmoil within the Grand Alliance over seat sharing, the political equations finally appear to be clear. After an agreement between the Congress and RJD, VIP did not receive the expected number of seats. This led Mukesh Sahni to withdraw from the electoral race. He said, "We don't want a Lok Sabha seat; I want to be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar." Sahni made it clear that he will now campaign for his own candidates and strengthen the Grand Alliance.

Wrote a Letter to Rahul Gandhi, Expressed Dissatisfaction

Mukesh Sahni had expressed his displeasure a day earlier by writing a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He stated that seats to VIP were not allocated as promised. However, now he has put his own interests on hold and prioritized the party's interests. He expressed his support for VIP candidate Bhogendra Sahni from the Aurai seat on social media, writing, "We will fight and win." He appealed to the public to ensure a landslide victory for Bhogendra Sahni.
