Chhattisgarh: Elephants' roars echo through forest, herd of 50 elephants bath in stop dam, invade crops in Korba, panic among villagers


Korba: Elephants have recently established a presence in the forests of the Kartala range in Korba district, Chhattisgarh. A large herd of about 50 elephants is continuously roaming the forests between Rampur and Kartala, creating panic among the villagers.

According to villagers, this herd of elephants moves towards villages and fields late at night, causing significant damage to crops. Many farmers are forced to stay awake throughout the night to protect their crops. 

Drone video emerges 

Meanwhile, a drone video has emerged showing a herd of elephants bathing in a stop dam and trumpeting in the forest. While this scene was captivating, the elephants also caused major damage by invading the crops. After bathing and eating, the herd was also seen resting on the edge of the fields.

Forest Dept deploys team

The Forest Department has deployed a team to the scene and is closely monitoring the elephants' movements. According to department officials, patrolling has been increased and villagers have been advised to remain vigilant.

Villagers told not to venture into the forest 

The Forest Department has appealed to villagers not to venture into the forest unnecessarily and to report any emergencies immediately. Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to move the herd away from populated areas.
