Action should be taken under the Arms Act: CS
In compliance with the Chief Minister’s instructions, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain conducted a high-level meeting on Friday to review the situation. CS Jain directed that carbide guns are prohibited devices and action should be taken under the Arms Act 1959, Explosives Act 1884, and Explosives Substances Act 1908. He said that this device generates a loud noise and pressure wave from the explosion of acetylene gas, which can cause severe physical injuries, burns, and permanent eye damage.
FIRs to be registered
Chief Secretary Jain directed that FIRs should be registered and strict punitive action taken in case of manufacturing or selling them. He also said that monitoring and punitive action should be conducted by the cyber branch to stop the sale of carbide guns or their components on e-commerce websites and social media platforms. Awareness campaigns should be conducted among citizens, especially parents and educational institutions, to inform that this is not a “toy” but an “explosive device.”
