Bihar New Government Formation: How Nitish Kumar Upset BJP’s Calculations in Bihar

🎧 Listen:

Bihar New Government Formation: The BJP wanted two new faces as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government. The BJP wanted one Deputy Chief Minister to be a woman. However, Nitish Kumar agreed with the BJP on the name of Samrat Choudhary.

The BJP now faced a dilemma: accepting only Nitish Kumar's proposal could lead to dissatisfaction within the party. Either change the both Deputy Chief Ministers or repeat both. At the last minute, it was decided to repeat both Deputy Chief Ministers instead of replacing one, thus avoiding any risk.

Nitish had vetoed Sushil Modi's removal

Nitish Kumar has always been adept at building strong relationships with leaders within the BJP alliance. Nitish also had a strong bond with Sushil Modi. In 2017, the BJP had planned to remove Sushil Modi from the post of Deputy CM, but Nitish Kumar vetoed the proposal. Consequently, the BJP had to approve Sushil Modi's name. Now, Nitish Kumar appears to have more or less the same bond with Samrat Chaudhary.

Samrat Chaudhary had proposed Nitish's name

Nitish Kumar will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar. He has submitted his resignation to the Governor. Nitish was elected as the leader of the legislative party at the NDA legislative party meeting, where Samrat Chaudhary proposed Nitish's name. All MLAs unanimously supported Nitish's name. On November 20th, Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time, becoming the 19th Chief Minister of Bihar.

PM Modi to attend swearing in ceremony

With Nitish Kumar's resignation, the current Assembly has been dissolved. Nitish has submitted a letter of support from the MLAs to the Governor. The term of the Bihar Assembly ends on November 22nd, and it was necessary to form a new government before that time. The swearing-in ceremony for the new government will take place on November 20th at Gandhi Maidan in Patna

The swearing-in ceremony will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister at 11:30 a.m. Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, and several NDA leaders will be present at the ceremony.
