Election Commission takes this decision regarding Special Intensive Revision


The Election Commission has extended the entire schedule of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program, currently underway in nine states and three union territories, by one week.

A statement issued by the Commission on Sunday stated that the door-to-door distribution of voter list forms will now continue until December 11, instead of December 4.

In addition, the draft voter list will now be published on December 16, instead of December 9.

The final voter list will be released on February 14, 2026, instead of February 7, 2026.The SIR exercise is currently underway in Uttar Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

The first phase of SIR was completed in Bihar in September ahead of the Assembly elections.
