Miss Universe 2025: Mexico's Fatima Bosch Wins Pageant; Thailand's Indian origin Praveenar Singh named first runner-up

Fatima Bosch of Mexico has been crowned Miss Universe 2025. Following this year's tumultuous season, she was crowned at a special ceremony held in Bangkok on Friday.

Fatima, 25, made headlines in November when she was reprimanded in front of several other contestants and walked out of the room.

A fashion design graduate from Mexico, Fatima Bosch was once bullied at school for struggling with dyslexia and ADHD.

She has often spoken about her personal battles, her deep compassion for animals while also emphasising the need to push sustainable fashion for the planet.

Announcing the new winner, Miss Universe organisation wrote on their Instagram: 'Congratulations to our new Miss Universe.'

'Tonight, a star was born. Her grace, strength, and radiant spirit captured the hearts of the world, and we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome her as our new queen. The universe shines a little brighter with her leading the way.'

The theme for Miss Universe 2025 was 'The Power of Love.'

Fatima beat contestants from more than 130 countries in this year's global beauty pageant. She received the crown from last year's winner, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark, during the ceremony held in Thailand. Puerto Rico has been announced as the host country for next year's Miss Universe edition.

The runner-up positions were claimed by contestants from various countries. Thailand's Praveenar Singh was named first runner-up, followed by Stephany Abasali of Venezuela as second runner-up. The third runner-up position went to Ahtisa Manalo of the Philippines, while Olivia Yace of Ivory Coast finished as fourth runner-up.

India’s Manika in Top 15

India's representative, Manika Vishwakarma, performed admirably, advancing to the Top 30 after the swimsuit round. Despite her brilliant performance, she did not progress to the Top 12, concluding India's participation in this year's contest.

India has a proud history in the Miss Universe pageant, having previously secured the crown three times; Sushmita Sen in 1994, Lara Dutta in 2000 and Harnaaz Sandhu in 2021.

While the Miss Universe Organization has not officially disclosed the prize money for 2025, reports suggest that it is likely to be around $2.5 lakh, similar to the award given to Victoria Kjaer in 2024. In addition, the winner receives a monthly stipend of $50,000 to cover travel, public appearances, and brand-related commitments.

Beyond the monetary rewards, the titleholder enjoys several prestigious perks, including a luxurious residence in the heart of New York City and the iconic Miss Universe crown, valued at approximately $5 million.
