What US President Donald Trump now said about H-1 B visa?

🎧 Listen:

US President Donald Trump, while advocating for H-1B visas, said that America doesn't have enough talent and needs to bring in talent from other countries.

Trump made this statement while talking to reporters.

The journalist asked Trump whether things like H-1B visas would be prioritized in his administration. And if he wants to increase wages for American workers, could thousands or lakhs of workers be allowed to come from other countries?

Trump responded, "I agree with you. But we also need to bring in talent."

The journalist told Trump, "We have enough talented people."

Trump replied, "No, we don't."

He further said, "We don't have the necessary talent, and people need to learn. You can't tell the unemployed that we're going to build a factory for you where you'll make missiles."

The journalist then asked Trump, "Have we done that before?"

Trump replied, "Let me give you an example. They raided Georgia because they wanted to expel illegal immigrants. They had people from South Korea who made things like batteries."

"Making batteries is a very complex job. It's not easy. It's very dangerous, there are explosions sometimes. There are a lot of problems."

The US President said, "They had about 500 or 600 people who did the initial work of making batteries and teaching others. But they wanted to deport them all. You need them."

Trump further said, "You can't tell any country to come and invest $10 billion, build a plant, and hire unemployed people who haven't worked in the last five years."

In September of this year, Trump increased the fee for H-1B visa applicants to $100,000 (about Rs 88 lakh).

The H-1B is a temporary visa that allows US employers to hire foreign workers with highly skilled skills, such as scientists, engineers, and teachers.

Indians constitute a significant portion of those traveling to the US on H-1B visas.
