Bhopal set to receive another major rail facility, Nishatpura station will be operational from this date
Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal is set to receive another major rail facility in the New Year. The Railways have officially announced that Nishatpura station will be operational in January 2026 with passenger services. Initially, the Jabalpur-Somnath Express and Malwa Express will stop here. This will ease the growing traffic burden at Bhopal, Habibganj, and Subhash Nagar stations.
Bhopal's fourth major station
The station is being developed as Bhopal's fourth major station. This will provide significant travel relief to millions of passengers from Old Bhopal, especially Karond, Lalghati, Gandhi Nagar, Ayodhya Nagar, Anand Nagar, Bhim Nagar, and surrounding areas. They will not have to travel long distances and spend significant time to reach the main station. Work on parking, ticketing, passenger amenities, and security arrangements within the station premises is in its final stages.
Several other important trains may halt in future
According to railway officials, Nishatpura is being considered for halting several other important trains in the future. These include trains like the Jaipur-Chennai Express, Ajmer-Hyderabad Express, Indore-Howrah, Indore-Rajendra Nagar, Vindhyachal, Rajya Rani, Bhopal-Bina MEMU, Bilaspur Express, and Jhansi-Itarsi Passenger.
Railway is currently conducting final tests
Saurabh Kataria, Senior DCM of Bhopal Railway Division, stated that Nishatpura station has been under construction since 2023, and most of the work has been completed. The railway is currently conducting final tests. He stated that preparations are underway to open the station in the New Year. As soon as permission for the inauguration ceremony is obtained, the station will be operational.
Kataria stated that the halts for the Malwa Express and Jabalpur-Varaval (Somnath) Express have been notified at Nishatpura. Bhopal station is operationally extremely congested. Frequent train reversals cause delays for passengers.
