Chinese kite string is conductor of electricity, can prove deadly for children, what MP Transco is doing about this?
Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has launched a major initiative to curb potential accidents and power disruptions caused by flying kites with Chinese kite string (manja) near transmission lines in Indore city. With the aim of ensuring the safety of citizens and keeping them alert and safe, the company will conduct a special "Stop and Warn" campaign in Indore.
MP Transco's Executive Engineer, Ms. Namrita Jain, informed that in the last two years, there have been 13 incidents in the Indore region where Chinese kite string came into contact with transmission lines, resulting not only in power outages but also damage to the transmission lines.
Awareness Campaign to be Launched
Under the "Roko Toko" campaign, MP Transco has identified areas in Indore where kite flying is prevalent. Personal contact will be established with citizens in these sensitive areas. In addition, posters, banners, and public address systems will be used to spread widespread awareness and caution people, so that loss of life and property can be prevented and consumers do not have to face unnecessary long power outages over a wide area.
Serious threat to kite flyers
Chinese kite string, unlike ordinary cotton thread, is a conductor of electricity and can be extremely dangerous. When it comes into contact with transmission lines, it not only disrupts the power supply but can also cause loss of life and property. When this string touches power lines, the material it is made of can conduct electricity, posing a serious threat to the kite flyer and people nearby.
These areas in Indore are aensitive
The areas in Indore considered most sensitive to kite flying with Chinese kite string include Limbody, Musakhedi, Khajrana, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Sukhlia, Gaurinagar, Banganga, Tejaji Nagar, and Nemawar Road. Special emphasis will be placed on campaigning in these areas.
