Uttarakhand: Bus plunges into gorge in Almora, six dead
A horrific road accident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Salt-Bhikiyasain area of Almora district in Uttarakhand. A bus carrying passengers went out of control and fell into a deep gorge on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak-Bhelati motor road.
The bus was traveling from the hilly area towards Ramnagar in Nainital district. Upon receiving information about the accident, the police, local administration, and disaster relief teams reached the spot and started rescue operations.
Almora District Disaster Management Officer Vineet Pal told that the accident occurred near a place called Khelapani. He said the disaster control room received information about the accident at around 9 am.
Pal said that the 32-seater bus was going from Dwarahat to Ramnagar and fell into a gorge about 150 meters deep. A total of 19 people were on board the bus.
According to Vineet Pal, six people have died in this accident, while 12 have been injured. Three of the injured are said to be in serious condition and are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh.
