Weather India: Cold wave alert for Madhya Pradesh, check IMD updates

Amidst snowfall in the hilly states, cold is increasing in the plains. A cold wave alert has been issued in Madhya Pradesh for the next two days by IMD. Tuesday night, Kalyanpur in Shahdol recorded the lowest temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, 25 cities, including Indore, recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday-Wednesday night, the mercury remained below 10 degrees Celsius in most cities of  MP. Indore reached 5.4 degrees Celsius, while Bhopal recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius. Gwalior recorded 9.3 degrees Celsius, Ujjain 8.7 degrees Celsius, and Jabalpur 9.1 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, Umaria recorded below 5 degrees Celsius, i.e., 4.9 degrees Celsius. The only hill stations, Pachmarhi and Rajgarh, recorded temperatures of 5.2 degrees Celsius.

Rajasthan experiencing severe cold

Rajasthan is experiencing severe cold. The cold wave will continue to affect the state until December 10th. On Tuesday, minimum temperatures remained in single digits in more than 18 cities across the state. The lowest temperature was recorded in Fatehpur at 3.7 degrees Celsius.

Dense fog in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, dense fog continued to engulf 20 districts, including Barabanki and Gonda, on Wednesday morning. Visibility was zero in many places. Fog also reduced visibility in 10 districts of Bihar. Snowfall occurred at Shinkula Pass in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Up to 6 inches of snowfall occurred at Shinkula Peak. Temperatures dropped by 3-4 degrees.
