US Air Force Secret Doomsday Plane: Amidst the ongoing geopolitical turmoil around the world, a piece of news has emerged from the United States that has surprised everyone. The US Air Force's most secret aircraft, the Boeing E-4B Nightwatch, commonly known as the 'Doomsday Plane,' was recently spotted in Maryland, near Washington D.C.  Significantly, this aircraft has rarely been seen publicly in this manner in its 51-year history.

A major signal

According to reports, the aircraft took off from its base in Nebraska and reached very close to Washington D.C. Although no national emergency has been officially declared, its presence is being seen as a major signal. This activity comes at a time when global tensions are at their peak following US actions against Venezuela and the seizure of a Russian ship.

No ordinary passenger aircraft

The E-4B Nightwatch is no ordinary passenger aircraft. It is specifically designed to take command of the government and military during a nuclear war or a major national crisis. If the Pentagon or other command centers on the ground are destroyed, this aircraft acts as a 'National Airborne Operations Center.' From here, the President and the Secretary of Defense can direct missile systems and submarines around the world.

Not affected even by the intense radiation

The E-4B is designed in such a way that it remains unaffected by the intense radiation and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) released after a nuclear explosion. Its electronic systems remain completely secure and do not stop working under any circumstances.

Can refuel in mid-air

This aircraft has the capability to refuel in mid-air, allowing it to remain on mission for several days continuously. It is capable of flying for approximately 12 hours without stopping.

Plane can become a mobile command and control center

The special radome on top of the aircraft contains 67 satellite dishes and antennas. This is why it becomes a mobile command and control center, whose communication capabilities are considered to be even greater than those of Air Force One.

E-4B also features special amenities

The E-4B has seating for approximately 112 people. It also features special amenities such as a briefing room, separate quarters for battle staff, and a private cabin for the Secretary of Defense.

Cost of flying is Rs 1.4 crore per hour

Operating this extremely expensive and sophisticated aircraft is no small feat. The cost of flying it is approximately $160,000 (Rs 1.4 crore) per hour. An E-4B costs more than $223 million. Experts believe that such flights may be for staff training, but given the current global situation, it is being seen as a strong message.
