Dharmendra posthumously awarded Padma Vibhushan; Alka Yagnik, Shibu Soren Padma Bhushan; Harmanpreet Kaur, Rohit Sharma get Padma Shri
The country's top civilian awards, the Padma Awards, have been announced. Late film actor Dharmendra has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Four other personalities have also been announced as recipients of the Padma Vibhushan.
Along with Dharmendra, former Supreme Court Justice K.T. Thomas, violinist N. Rajam, P. Narayanan from the field of literature and education, and former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will also receive the Padma Vibhushan.
This year, 13 people have been awarded the Padma Bhushan, while 113 people have received the Padma Shri.
Other Padma Award recipients include renowned singer Alka Yagnik, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Jharkhand Chief Minister and late JMM leader Shibu Soren, late BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, and former tennis player Vijay Amritraj have been awarded the Padma Bhushan.
Regarding the Padma Shri awards, this year, the following individuals, among a total of 113 recipients, have been honored. Among them are Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, film actor R. Madhavan, former JNU Vice-Chancellor and former UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, cricketer Rohit Sharma, late film and television actor Satish Shah and former bowler Praveen Kumar.
PM congratulates Padma Awardees
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated all the Padma Awardees for their outstanding contributions to the nation.
The Prime Minister said that the excellence, dedication and service of the awardees across diverse fields enrich the fabric of society. He noted that the honour reflects the spirit of commitment and excellence that continues to inspire generations.
