ICC Men's T20 World Cup-2026: ICC Men's T20 World Cup-2026 What Bangladesh Cricket Board now said about playing its matches in India
ICC Men's T20 World Cup-2026: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is adamant about its demand not to play its T20 World Cup-2026 matches in India. It wants its matches to be played in Sri Lanka instead of India.
The BCB stated in a media release that the ICC informed them that the schedule had already been announced and requested them to reconsider their decision not to play in India. The ICC had earlier rejected the BCB's request to change the venue on Monday.
However, the BCB said it has not changed its decision. The safety of the players, officials, and support staff remains their top priority. They will continue discussions with the ICC to find a solution.
The BCB issued a press release stating that it reiterated its demand during a video conference with the ICC on Tuesday.
Controversy over exclusion of Bangladesh player from IPL
Due to the killings of Hindus in Bangladesh, the BCCI had not given permission to include Bangladesh player Mustafizur Rahman in the IPL. Following instructions from the BCCI, KKR dropped him from the team on January 3rd.
Upset by this, the Bangladeshi government banned the broadcast of IPL matches in the country. Subsequently, citing security concerns for its players, it demanded a change of venue for the T20 World Cup-2026, which is scheduled to begin on February 7th.
