Bangladesh have withdrawn from the ICC T20 World Cup-2026 after they did not get government clearance to travel to India, where the tournament is scheduled to be held. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has replaced Bangladesh with Scotland. ICC Chairman Jay Shah made this decision during a meeting in Dubai. The ICC announced this on its social media handles.
The ICC took this step after the Bangladesh government refused to play in India despite a 24-hour deadline given by the ICC on Thursday.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had filed an appeal with the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) against the ICC's decision to hold the matches in India, but it was also rejected.
The controversy began after Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the IPL. Following this, the BCB refused to send the team to India, citing security concerns.
