ICC T20 World Cup-2026: Following a meeting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), sports advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul said on Wednesday that Bangladesh wants to play in the ICC T20 World Cup-2026, but not at the cost of the country's reputation. He also warned that there would be no compromise on the safety of the cricketers and the dignity of Bangladesh.

Speaking to reporters, Asif Nazrul said, "After reading the ICC letter, it seems they haven't understood the security risks in India. There is no safe environment to play in India. The main reason for holding a hybrid World Cup is security. So we hope that we will be able to prove our reasons."

Nazrul said, "Look at Mustafizur Rahman; he was left out of the team due to difficulties in the security arrangements. Then a team from Bangladesh, a group of people who will go to watch the match, it's a big deal. We are preparing for everything."

Aminul Islam said, "When the Champions Trophy was held, India did not go to Pakistan. In the last few World Cups, Pakistan did not come to play in India either. So we are also hoping for a proper response."

He said that Bangladesh wants to play in Sri Lanka, the other host country.

Later, BCB President Aminul Islam told reporters, "We are talking about or raising a valid reason. We have played so many World Cups and have never said such a thing."

When asked if Bangladesh would change its decision if the ICC asked them to play in India, Aminul Islam said that 'the ICC will understand.'

Earlier on Wednesday, the BCB issued a statement saying that the International Cricket Council has assured it that it will ensure the smooth and full participation of the Bangladesh team in this year's T20 World Cup.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board also denied media reports that it had been given an ultimatum in this regard.
