US President Donald Trump has said that the US is keeping a close eye on Iran. He also said that a very large US military force is moving towards Iran.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Donald Trump said, "A large military force is moving towards Iran, but nothing seems to be happening right now, but we are watching them very closely."
Trump claimed that he stopped the execution of 837 people in Iran. Most of them are young people.
He said, "I said that if you execute these people, there will be the harshest action against you that has ever been taken. What we did to your nuclear program will seem very small compared to this action."
"And they actually said that they have canceled it, not postponed it, but canceled it. So that was a good sign."
Trump also said, "We have a very large fleet moving in that direction and maybe we won't have to use it, let's see."
Thousands of protesters have been killed in Iran during anti-government protests over rising inflation and a struggling economy. Many protesters were arrested by the Iranian authorities.
Last week, several reports claimed that Iran was going to execute these protesters. Later, US President Trump claimed that he had stopped the executions of the Iranian protesters.
According to reports, the US ship USS Abraham Lincoln has entered the zone of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Arabian Sea. Meanwhile, a US C-37B aircraft has also arrived at the Ashgabat base in Turkmenistan, north of Iran.
The USS Abraham Lincoln was previously deployed in the South China Sea. On January 18, it crossed the Strait of Malacca and entered the Indian Ocean.
The USS Abraham Lincoln traveled at a speed of more than 20 knots and later switched off its automatic identification system to conceal its location. At this speed, it could reach the Middle East today.
Several destroyer ships and nuclear submarines are accompanying the Abraham Lincoln. The aircraft carrier carries 48 to 60 F/A-18 fighter jets. These jets can strike targets up to 2,300 kilometers away without refueling.
Fighter jets deployed in Jordan
The US Air Force has deployed at least 12 F-15 fighter jets to Jordan. US officials said that more aircraft are on the way.
Between January 20 and 22, US C-17 military transport aircraft made several trips to the Mafraq Al-Khawaja airbase in Jordan. According to the report, these aircraft delivered Patriot-3 missile defense systems.
What Iran said?
A senior Iranian military official, General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, warned that if the US attacks, all of its military bases in the Middle East and centers in Israel will be targets for Iran.
Meanwhile, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour, said that his army's finger is on the trigger. In a written statement, Pakpour said that the Iranian army is more prepared than ever.
Israel warns Iran
Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat issued a stern warning to Iran. He said that if Iran launches another attack against Israel, it will be met with a response “seven times stronger” than before.
Speaking to the media in Davos, Switzerland, Barkat said that Israel has targeted Iran before and that any further provocation will be met with an even harsher response.
He claimed that the previous military action exposed Iran's military weaknesses.
