MP: Panic in health dept as GBS spreads to Mandsaur; 2 children had succumbed in Neemuch

Mandsaur: The GBS virus is now spreading in Madhya Pradesh. After claiming the lives of two children in Manasa, Neemuch, the infection has now reached Mandsaur. Recently, a new case of infection was reported in Kotda village, where 50-year-old Gopal Patidar was found to be infected. He has since been admitted to Charak Hospital in Indore.

Over 3800 people screened

The detection of Guillain-BarrΓ© syndrome (GBS) symptoms in the middle-aged man has caused panic in the health department. Upon receiving the information, the Block Medical Officer, along with a team from the health department, visited 722 houses in the village early in the morning. Over 3800 people were screened, and information about their illnesses was collected. During this process, eight people were found to have a fever, and their blood samples were taken and sent for testing.

Water samples collected

A team from the medical college also reached the village and began screening the residents. The PHE team from Bhanpura collected water samples. The patient who showed GBS symptoms had been ill for 20 days. He first went to Qureshi Hospital in Garoth and then to Kota. From there, he received treatment at two different hospitals in Indore. The health department received the alert from Charak Hospital.

Two children died in Neemuch

Earlier, on Saturday, two children died from GBS in Manasa town of Neemuch. 15 people were found to be infected, of whom 6 were confirmed cases.
