AAP leader Lucky Oberoi shot dead in Jalandhar Punjab
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi was murdered in Jalandhar, Punjab. The incident took place outside a gurdwara in Model Town, Jalandhar, where unidentified assailants attacked him.
A senior police officer in Jalandhar said the incident occurred in the morning.
According to the police, Lucky Oberoi had arrived at the gurdwara in his car when attackers on a two-wheeler opened fire on him.
Police officials said Lucky Oberoi was taken to the hospital after being injured, where he was declared dead. Police say they are examining CCTV footage from the area.
As per initial details, Oberoi was parking his car out side the Gurdwara when the attackers came on two-wheeler and opened fire at him.
The incident prompted a swift response from police officials. A police team reached the spot soon after receiving the information and began investigating the case.
Jalandhar Police ADCP-2 Harinder Singh Gill said, "On Friday morning, two assailants on a scooter arrived outside the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Model Town and fired shots at Lucky Oberoi."
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, has questioned the law and order situation in Punjab.
Bajwa wrote on social media platform X, "The law and order situation in Punjab has completely collapsed under Bhagwant Mann's rule. The broad daylight murder of AAP leader Lucky Oberoi outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar exposes this grim reality. If leaders of the ruling party are not safe, what hope is there for ordinary citizens?"
