Ecotourism projects in Uttar Pradesh take off, proposals invited for operation of these 10 sites, see details
Lucknow: Taking a major step towards promoting green and responsible tourism in Uttar Pradesh, the UP Ecotourism Development Board has invited proposals from interested organizations, companies, and experienced agencies for the operation and management of 10 major ecotourism sites in the state. This initiative will strengthen professional management of natural heritage, long-term investment, and environmental protection.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that the selected agencies will be assigned the operation of the ecotourism projects for an initial period of 15 years, with the option to extend it if they perform satisfactorily. He stated that this decision will provide employment to local communities and strengthen the institutional framework for environmentally sensitive tourism.
Selected sites
The 10 major sites for which the Board has invited proposals include Udhela Lake in Ayodhya, Karakrawal Falls in Badraun, Lalitpur, Baghar Lake in Barabanki, Maritar Village in Ballia, Ajjepur Lake in Sitapur, Devdah Site in Maharajganj, Rampur Sohrauna Lake in Kushinagar, Ramnagar in Chitrakoot, Pachnada in Jalaun, and a tourist facilitation center near Kalinjar Fort in Naraini Tehsil of Banda district. All projects will be operated on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Interested applicants can submit their proposals by February 27, 2026. Detailed application guidelines, eligibility criteria, and procedures are available on the Board's official website. Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that Uttar Pradesh is rich in natural resources, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, and this initiative will prove to be a milestone in establishing the state as a major eco-tourism hub.
