This was revealed by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. On Thursday, he said that India's textile sector will receive additional benefits beyond those provided by the US to Bangladesh.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who plays a key role in the trade negotiations between India and the US, indicated that, like Bangladesh, the Indian textile sector is also expected to receive zero US tariffs after the final agreement is signed. His statement will provide significant relief to Indian textile exporters, as the US-Bangladesh trade agreement has posed significant challenges to this business.
Rahul spread another lie in Parliament
Piyush Goyal's statement in this regard comes at a time when political circles are engaged in a war of words regarding the India-US trade deal. It is noteworthy that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had said that this agreement between India and the US was a complete surrender to Donald Trump. Piyush Goyal now targeted Rahul's statement, saying that he had spread another lie in Parliament that Bangladesh benefited more from the trade agreement than India.
India will also receive same privilege
The Commerce Minister told Congress that just as Bangladesh has received the privilege of purchasing raw materials from the US, processing them into textiles, and then exporting them, there is no tariff on them. He said that India will also receive the same privilege.
Elaborating on this matter, Piyush Goyal clarified that this part may not have been included in the interim trade agreement framework issued by the two countries last week, but it will be included in the final agreement. He said that our trade agreement is currently being prepared and once this interim agreement is finalized, you will understand its every detail.
