Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the House on Wednesday. The budget expands the scope of the government's priorities within a year. The government will now focus on the GYANII, not GYAN alone. Previously, the budget focused on the welfare of the poor, youth power, food providers, and women's empowerment, but now two 'I'—infrastructure and industry—have been added. In this way, infrastructure development and industrial investment will also be encouraged in the state.
For the first time, the Madhya Pradesh government has prepared a rolling budget. The size of Madhya Pradesh's budget for the next three years has been finalized. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to do so. Most importantly, unlike last year, no new taxes have been imposed in the budget. This means the budget will not directly impact people's pockets.

Government will launch these new schemes

Yashoda Scheme

The government will now provide children with milk in tetra packs under the Yashoda scheme.
While the state government will retain most of its previous schemes and has made funding provisions for them in the budget, three major schemes are also being launched in this budget, the most important of which is the Yashoda scheme. The government will now provide milk in tetra packs to school children up to the 8th grade. The government will spend Rs 700 crore on this in the new financial year. Eight million children will benefit from this. The government will spend a massive sum of Rs 6,600 crore on this scheme over five years.

Dwarka Nagar Yojana will transform cities

Following the deaths due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura, Indore, the government will launch the Dwarka Nagar Yojana to transform the face of the state's cities. This scheme will strengthen urban infrastructure. Under this scheme, Rs 5,000 crore will be spent over the next three years to improve urban infrastructure.

Property worth Rs 46,000 crore will now belong to rural residents

The government is offering a significant gift to those living in rural areas. Due to the lack of registration of inhabited land, i.e., inhabited houses, their property was of no value to banks and financial institutions. However, with registration, rural residents will now own property worth Rs 46,000 crore. To this end, the state government has allocated a substantial sum of Rs 3,800 crore in the budget for the registration of ownership rights of inhabited land worth Rs 46,000 crore in rural areas. This means that the government will bear the cost of registration; homeowners will not have to pay any money for ownership rights.

50,000 government positions to be filled: A major announcement for youth

To attract the youth of the state, the budget has once again announced government jobs for them. Recruitment for 50,000 government positions has been announced. According to the announcement, 22,500 police positions will be filled within the next three years, including positions ranging from constables to inspectors and sub-inspectors. This year, preparations are underway to recruit 7,500 positions. Similarly, the recruitment process for 15,000 teachers for primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels will begin this year. Meanwhile, 4,485 teachers will also be recruited for schools in tribal areas.

The government will spend Rs 10,428 crore annually to provide on-demand employment to people in rural areas. The government has also allocated funds for the Vikasit Bharat - Employment and Livelihood Mission - Rural, or VB-G RAM G.

Rs 1.15 lakh crore will be spent on farmers

The state government has declared 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year. Therefore, no effort has been spared in opening the treasury for farmers. This year, the budget has allocated 1.15 lakh crore for the agriculture budget.

Health, education and quality of life

This scheme has become the largest free scheme in Madhya Pradesh, with over 1.25 crore women receiving Rs 1,500 per month directly into their accounts. This amount will continue to increase, and by the next assembly elections, it could reach Rs 3,000 per month. A provision of Rs 1,801 crore has been made in the budget for the Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
