MP: First ever Shri Mahakal Van Mela kickstarts in Ujjain; CM Mohan Yadav inaugurates Mahakal Memorial Gift Kit and Van Prasadam

MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that forests are the glory of our Mother Earth, the earth's heritage, and the earth's adornment. Forests are our national asset. It is our responsibility to conserve and enhance them. 

CM said that Van Melas (forest fairs) are a powerful medium to showcase the state's rich biological and botanical diversity. They provide our tribal brothers and sisters with a golden opportunity to sell their forest products and woodcrafts. He stated that the "Shri Mahakal Van Mela" has begun today.

CM Mohan Yadav stated that this fair will soon establish its own unique identity. The herbs and various types of pure and safe non-wood minor forest products displayed at the fair are extremely useful in the treatment of diseases through Ayurvedic and naturopathic methods. These herbal medicines are proving effective in treating every disease, making even the treatment of seemingly impossible diseases possible.

Dr. Yadav stated that the Union Budget 2026 announced the opening of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda in the country, modeled after AIIMS. Efforts are underway to establish one of these All India Institutes of Ayurveda in Ujjain. A proposal has been submitted to the Central Government.

Natural colors and gulal at Van Mela

CMr Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that citizens will find natural colors and gulal (colourful colours) at this forest fair. Pulse doctors and Ayurvedic doctors will also provide their services. He stated that the ethnic craft items made from wood and bamboo displayed at the forest fair are not only excellent examples of traditional craftsmanship but also enhance the beauty of everyone's homes. 

Forest fair will continue until Feb 16

CM appealed to the citizens of Ujjain to take full advantage of this forest fair and encourage everyone to utilize the state's forest resources and tribal products. He stated that the government has taken an important initiative to provide a market for local forest products and artisans through the "Mahakal Van Mela." This is a meaningful step towards environmental awareness, promotion of Ayurvedic products, and self-reliance. This forest fair will continue until February 16 at the Dussehra Ground in Ujjain.



Chief Minister Dr. Yadav launched Vindhya Herbal's natural colors and gulal, the Mahakal Memorial Gift Kit, and the "Mahakal Forest Prasadam." He honored Forest Guard Jagdish Prasad Ahirwar, an expert on forest medicinal treatments from Panna district, with a certificate.

Forest Dept has prepared a natural Mahakal Van Prasadam

The CM stated that the Forest Fair held in Ujjain on the occasion of Mahashivratri and Vikramotsav is a wonderful gift for the people of the state. The Forest Department has prepared a natural Mahakal Van Prasadam. 

The Prasadam includes a sapling planted in a wooden pot. This pot will be presented to Mahakal as a gift. Upon its return, it will be planted anywhere. The wood will decompose and become compost, and the plant will continue to flourish uninterruptedly without removing the pot.

Mahua laddus and sweets made from grains also available

The Chief Minister stated that various forest products, including Mahua laddus and sweets made from grains, are also available at the Mahakal Forest Fair in Ujjain. He added that the Vaidyas and doctors attending the Ujjain Forest Fair will provide free services to citizens for the treatment of many incurable diseases.



250 stalls set up

Additional Chief Secretary for Forests and Cooperation, Ashok Barnwal, stated that sales of over Rs 3 crore were generated at the Forest Fair held in Bhopal a month and a half ago. 250 stalls displaying various products from across the state have been set up at the Shri Mahakal Forest Fair. Additionally, over 150 Vaidyas and Ayurvedic doctors will provide consultations.
