MP: How many voters will be removed from Bhopal's voter list after SIR?
Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and subsequent hearing of claims and objections, about 4.5 lakh voters will be removed from Bhopal's voter list. Bhopal completed the SIR work a day early, on Friday. However, the final voter list will be released on February 21.
The draft voter list was published on December 23. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) then sat at their booths until January 22. During this time, they received new Forms 6, 7, and 8.
Notices were issued to voters who were marked as "no-mapping" in the SIR, and their records were reviewed within 50 days. This work was supposed to be completed by February 14, but the district administration completed the work a day earlier, on February 13.
Before the SIR, the voter count in Bhopal was 21,25,908 as of October 27-25. A total of 4,38,875 voters were removed from the voter list in the SIR.
Following this, approximately 12,000 more names have been removed. This brings the total number of voters removed from the list to 4,50,000. The final list will be released on February 21.
