Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026: CM MK Stalin Bets on Women Voters, Transfers 5000 Rupees to all 1.31 Crore Beneficiaries Ahead of Polls
A scheme to transfer money directly to women's accounts has been launched ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. In the past two years, ruling parties in several states have succeeded in elections through such schemes. The current Tamil Nadu government's term ends on May 10th, and assembly elections are scheduled for April. Ahead of this, Chief Minister MK Stalin has transferred money to the accounts of 1.31 crore beneficiaries.
MK Stalin has implemented a scheme to transfer money directly to women's accounts, following the example of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He has also promised to double this amount if he is re-elected.
I will not back down: Stalin
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister stated on social media, "This 'Women's Rights Grant' for the women of Tamil Nadu is Stalin's promise. No matter who tries to obstruct it, I will not back down. They are trying to delay it for three months under the pretext of elections, but our Dravidian Model government has acted before them. An advance of Rs 3,000 for February, March, and April, and a summer special package of Rs 2,000 thus a total of Rs 5,000 has been transferred to the accounts of all 1.31 crore beneficiaries of the Kalaignar Women's Rights Scheme this morning. Under Dravidian Model 2.0, we will increase the Rs 1,000 Women's Rights Grant to Rs 2,000. This is the promise Karunanidhi Stalin is making to his sisters."
Guarantee of election victory
Schemes that directly benefit women have become a guarantee of election victory since 2023. It began with the Ladli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, elections were won in states like Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Bihar based on this model.
Now, MK Stalin is also using this strategy to achieve electoral success by benefiting women. His approach is very similar to that of Hemant Soren, who first launched the scheme and then increased the amount after winning the election.
