Cheetah Asha, who was brought from Namibia, has given birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, shared this information on Saturday.

The Minister said, "This is a moment of great pride and joy for Project Cheetah as Namibian cheetah Asha has become a mother for the second time, giving birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park on Saturday."

Eighth successful birth of cheetahs on Indian soil

He added, "With these five new cubs, the number of live cubs born in India has reached 24. This is the eighth successful birth of cheetahs on Indian soil. This is a significant milestone in India's cheetah conservation journey, initiated and nurtured under the environmentally conscious leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

Calling this development a collective effort, Yadav said, "This joyous achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication, skill, and commitment of the field staff and veterinarians who are working tirelessly on the ground. With their arrival, the total cheetah population in India has now reached 35."

Expressing hope for the future, the Minister said, "May Asha and her cubs thrive and lead this project to even greater success." He described this moment as "a truly historic and heartwarming moment for wildlife conservation in India."
