A historic initiative is being undertaken in Madhya Pradesh to give a new identity to early education. For the first time in the state, children aged 5 to 6 years—who are receiving pre-school education at Anganwadi centers—will be presented with a "Vidyarambh Certificate" (Certificate of Commencement of Learning) to facilitate their transition toward formal school education.

Social and institutional recognition to pre-school education

On the occasion of ‘Bal Chaupal’ (ECCE Day), scheduled for March 24 across the state, these certificates will be distributed ceremoniously and simultaneously at all Anganwadi centers, thereby granting social and institutional recognition to pre-school education.

State-level Graduation Ceremony in Bhopal

To showcase this initiative at the state level, a special state-level ‘Graduation Ceremony’ is being organized in Bhopal. Ms. Nirmala Bhuria, the Minister for Women and Child Development, will distribute the certificates to the children and extend her best wishes for their bright academic future. This event will be held at Anganwadi Centers No. 1061 and 859, under the Banganga Project in the Bhopal district, where 35 children will be awarded the Vidyarambh Certificates.

Ensure a smooth transition for children to formal schooling system

This initiative is being implemented in accordance with the directives of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, under which the formal commencement of the academic journey of children aged 5–6 years—registered at Anganwadi centers—is to be recognized through the issuance of a Vidyarambh Certificate. The objective of this program is to ensure a smooth transition for children from informal education to the formal schooling system, to raise awareness among families and the community regarding the importance of pre-school education, and to establish Anganwadi centers as empowered hubs for early education.

Rocket Learning is also extending its support

The organization ‘Rocket Learning,’ which works in the field of early education, is also extending its support in organizing this program. Under the agreements established with the organization at both the central and state levels, various activities are currently being implemented across 39 districts of Madhya Pradesh to strengthen quality pre-school education.

Initiative will foster increased trust and participation within the community

The 'Vidhyarambh Certificate' initiative will not only ensure continuity in children's educational journeys but also foster increased trust and participation within the community regarding Anganwadi centers. This will strengthen children's engagement with schools and also contribute to reducing dropout rates in the future.
