MP: 10 die, over 30 injured as bus overturns after colliding with pickup truck in Chhindwara; CM expresses grief
A bus overturned after colliding with a pickup truck in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The accident claimed the lives of 10 people—including the drivers of both vehicles—while more than 30 others sustained injuries. A woman and a child suffered severed limbs, while several others sustained head injuries. The deceased include six men, three women, and one child.
Bus was carrying 47 passengers
The accident occurred around 6:30 PM on Thursday in the Umranala area. The bus, bearing registration number MP28 P 0321, was carrying 47 passengers. It was returning from a 'Beneficiary Conference' (Hitgrahi Sammelan) held at the Police Lines in Chhindwara. During the journey, near Simariya, it collided with a pickup truck.
One injured referred to Nagpur
Abhay Sinha, Dean of the Chhindwara District Hospital, stated: "The deceased include six men, three women, and one child. One injured patient is in critical condition and has been referred to the Nagpur Medical College; the patient has sustained severe head injuries, including blood clotting. The remaining injured patients are being treated here."
Green Corridor Established to Transport Injured to Hospital
The injured were transported to the District Hospital using six ambulances. To facilitate this, the police established a "Green Corridor" stretching from the accident site to the hospital.
Collector Harendra Narayan, BJP District President Sheshrao Yadav, and Congress District President Vishwanath Okte eere present at the hospital.
CM expresses deep grief
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed deep grief over the road accident that occurred near Chhindwara. He directed Chhindwara District In-charge Minister Rakesh Singh to visit and meet the people affected by the incident.
Dr. Yadav, expressing condolences to the affected families, prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls. He also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
Dr. Yadav directed the concerned officials to ensure proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured. He also instructed that teams of doctors, along with paramedical staff, be sent from Jabalpur to Chhindwara and Nagpur. The Chief Minister also directed Chhindwara District In-charge Minister Rakesh Singh to alter his schedule and immediately proceed to Chhindwara.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased, while Rs 1 lakh each will be given to those seriously injured. The state government will bear the cost of treatment for all the injured. A control room has also been set up in the Health Department in Bhopal to continuously monitor the treatment of all the injured.
