MP: CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates Gyanveer University in Sagar, Says New Chapter in Education is Being Written in Bundelkhand

MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that India has a value-based matriarchal tradition that accords the highest respect to motherhood. It is the only civilisation that, on the strength of its values, spread the stream of knowledge to the far corners of the world through institutions such as Takshashila and Nalanda Universities. CM Dr. Yadav said that the great educationist Dr. Hari Singh Gour ushered in a new dawn of education in Sagar, Bundelkhand, by investing his personal resources. Due to his efforts, Bundelkhand received the gift of a Central University, and students educated there have made a distinct mark both in India and abroad. CM also announced the establishment of libraries for the children of labourers in Rahatgarh and Jaisinagar. He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of Gyanveer University in Sagar on Wednesday.

CM said that, by the grace of Maa Saraswati, a new chapter in education is being written in Sagar today. Gyanveer University, as a modern temple of learning, will take the potential and aspirations of the youth of Bundelkhand to new heights. He expressed gratitude to Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput for this initiative. 

CM said that ‘Gyanveer’ is not merely the name of a university, but a son’s tribute to his parents. Minister Rajput has dedicated the institution to his revered mother Gyanbai, taking the word Gyan, and to his respected father Veer Singh, taking the word Veer. The Chief Minister said the university would open new doors of opportunity for the youth of Bundelkhand. He also called upon young people to master skills and technology to keep pace with changing times.



At the beginning of the event, Chancellor of Gyanveer University Aditya Singh Rajput delivered the welcome address and provided information about the university. On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Rehli MLA and former Minister Gopal Bhargava, along with public representatives, officials, and a large number of citizens, were present.

Chief Minister Encourages Students

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted with the students and appreciated the Moot Court initiative. He said that, along with theoretical knowledge, practical experience is essential for preparing competent advocates and jurists. He described such simulated learning methods as highly useful in modern education. According to the university administration, moot courts will help students overcome hesitation and prepare them for advocacy in the High Courts and the Supreme Court.

CM Enjoys Bundelkhand’s Traditional Culinary Platter

CM appreciated the traditional cuisine of Bundelkhand and described it as beneficial for health. He particularly praised dishes made from millets, a traditional staple of the region. He said that rotis made from jowar, bajra and maize not only provide energy but also represent the pride of India’s ancient dietary traditions.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s meal featured a variety of traditional Bundelkhandi dishes, including methi and gram greens, kadhi pakoda, dahi bade, bijora, kachariya, bari curry, the famous maheri, khichla, papad, mangodi, Gujarati savouries, chironji barfi, mango & lemon pickle and refreshing mango panna. The CM said that Bundeli cuisine is not only rich in taste but also highly beneficial for digestion. Millets such as jowar and bajra form the foundation of good health. Promoting local cuisine strengthens the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’. These dishes reflect the rich cultural heritage and hospitality of Bundelkhand.

CM received a grand welcome from local artists 

During Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s visit to Sagar district, vibrant presentations of Bundeli culture captivated the audience. He received a grand welcome from local artists accompanied by traditional musical instruments. The artists performed Rai, Badhai and other folk songs, with the melodies of dholak, nagadiya, flute, manjira and other traditional Bundeli instruments filling the air. The enchanting performances enthralled the audience. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav embraced the artists and appreciated their talent by patting them on the back.
