The impact of the Iran-Israel war is now visible in Madhya Pradesh. On Tuesday, everyone from the government to officials appeared on high alert regarding fuel, including LPG cylinders. When the Bhopal Collector convened a meeting of officials, the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce stated that the halt in the supply of commercial gas cylinders would lead to the closure of over 2,000 hotels and restaurants.

The delivery of commercial cylinders from oil companies has been suspended since Monday. Commercial cylinders were not available on Tuesday either.

Collector calls meeting

Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh also called a meeting with the three oil companies, food officers, gas agency operators, and traders, where the supply was discussed. A meeting was held under Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh's chairmanship with representatives from the oil companies, the Chamber of Commerce, the hotel industry, and gas distribution agencies.

It was informed at the meeting that, as per the Government of India's directives, domestic LPG cylinders will be distributed only through authorized gas distribution companies. Furthermore, arrangements have been implemented for the distribution of commercial cylinders in accordance with Government regulations. Hospitals, educational institutions, hostels, and other essential services will be provided with gas cylinders in accordance with government regulations.

The Central Government is enforcing the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, to prevent hoarding of essential commodities, including gas. Changes have also been made to the domestic LPG cylinder booking system. Consumers will now be able to book the next cylinder only after 25 days of delivery.

The Collector appealed to the citizens of Bhopal to ignore any rumors regarding gas cylinder distribution and to only trust information received from authorized sources.

Demand to lift the ban on the use of commercial cylinders

Officials from the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the capital's largest business organization, visited the Collectorate on Tuesday to meet with the Collector. Here, they submitted an application to Deputy Collector Ajay Sharma. They stated that due to the lack of commercial gas cylinders, 2,000 hotels and restaurants in Bhopal will be unable to prepare their meals and snacks without commercial gas. Weddings will also be in trouble.

President Govind Goyal and Secretary Ajay Devnani stated that food is prepared at weddings using commercial cylinders. If cylinders are not available, this will create problems. Hotels should have adequate supplies. Bhopal's major hotels, restaurants, and bars use 10 to 15 cylinders at a time. Meanwhile, small hotels and restaurants require two to four cylinders. Places that currently have stock aren't experiencing any problems, but they will likely run out within the next two days. Hotels, restaurants, and bars will then have to close.

More than 1,000 weddings in Bhopal alone

According to priests, more than 1,000 weddings are scheduled for March in Bhopal and surrounding towns. Rinku Bhateja, vice president of the Federation of MP Tent Associations, said that wedding bookings have been made several months in advance. Commercial cylinder rates have been rising for the past two months. Now, a supply crisis has arisen, potentially causing problems.

All Supply Resources Available in State: CM

Meanwhile, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that there is no difficulty of any kind in the supply system in Madhya Pradesh. The government has sufficient supply resources available. There is no need for anyone to face difficulties or panic regarding the supply of food items, gas, or oil. CM directed officials to ensure the best possible management across the state. He said that the Central Government is closely monitoring the situation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the food and civil supply arrangements in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday at the Mantralaya in view of the adverse situation that has arisen in the Gulf countries.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that improved management will help address the emerging national and global circumstances and potential challenges. He informed that a three-member committee of ministers and officials will monitor the supply system and take all necessary steps to maintain uninterrupted supplies.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, along with other ministers, attended the meeting.
