Queens on the Wheels: 25 Women Bikers to Cover 1,400 km across Major Tourist Destinations of Madhya Pradesh, Will Promote Tourism, Says CM Mohan Yadav
MP CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the ‘Queens on the Wheels’ 3.0 Women Biking Tour is not merely a bike rally but a unique campaign to showcase the identity of Madhya Pradesh to the world through women’s empowerment, courage and tourism.
Welcoming women riders from different parts of the country to the ‘Heart of India’, the CM said that Madhya Pradesh is not only ‘Ajab-Gajab’ but is also vigilant in ensuring the safety of women. He said that this journey by the women riders is an inspiring example of tourism promotion and women’s safety, reflecting the changing face of society.
The ‘Queens on the Wheels’ women biking tour, which began ahead of International Women’s Day and Rang Panchami, will see women riders from across the country spreading the vibrant colours of Madhya Pradesh tourism. The tour has been organised to promote the state’s rich and historic tourist destinations across the country and the world. The CM said that this journey would prove to be unique, courageous and inspiring for the daughters of Madhya Pradesh.
CM Dr. Mohan Yada flagged off the tour of 25 women superbikers from the CM’s Residence in Bhopal on Saturday, extending his best wishes and assuring them of all possible support. Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar was also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister also posed for a group photograph with the bikers and Tourism Sakhis.
A symbol of guaranteed safety for women in MP
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the tour has been launched as a symbol of guaranteed safety for women in Madhya Pradesh. The tour includes 25 courageous women bikers from different states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
Scheduled from March 7 to 13, the riders will cover a distance of 1,400 kilometres. During the journey, the riders will pass through prominent tourist destinations of the state, including Sanchi, Udayagiri, Chanderi, Khajuraho, Kuno National Park, Gwalior, Mitawali, and Orchha. The tour will conclude in Bhopal on 13 March.
CM said that the simplicity of Nimar, the vibrancy of Malwa, the bravery of Bundelkhand, the folk arts of Baghelkhand, the glorious history of Chambal and the natural beauty of Mahakaushal together define the unique identity of Madhya Pradesh. The state government is committed to promoting clean natural surroundings, safe tourism and spiritual tourism across the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav advised the women riders to take special care of safety during the journey. He said that district-level police administrations will coordinate all necessary arrangements, including accommodation and other facilities for the riders.
CM also interacted with the women bikers from across the country. 62-year-old Neeta Khandekar from Mumbai shared that seven years ago, she gathered the courage to pursue her passion for biking and later completed a memorable 21,000-km journey in 75 days.
Trina from West Bengal said that she travelled to Madhya Pradesh by bike in four days through Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar, and added that she felt the safest in Madhya Pradesh, praising the state’s roads and natural beauty. The Chief Minister also met the Tourism Sakhis present at the event.
Team members
The women's biking tour is being led by 62-year-old Dr. Neeta from Mumbai. The group includes riders from several cities across the country.
From Bhopal: Sara Khan, Rajnandini, Divya Raman, Mayuri Soni, Disha Rakeshiya, Unnati Chaurasia, Sejal Kushwaha and Mehak Batham.
From Gwalior: Shabnam Bano. Other participants include Hetal Upadhyay, Madhuri Nayak, Madhu Helchal, Tanu Priya and Riddhi from Mumbai; Sona Priyadarshini from Bengaluru; Sayanti Ghosh from Kolkata; Kalyani Potekar from Pune; Dr. Priyanka Rukmini, Ruchika Meghe, Ekta Khete, Maithili Singh, and Pallavi Deshmukh from Nagpur; Dr. Sumit from Noida; and Kavita Jadhav from Sambhaji Nagar (Maharashtra).
