UP Ram Navami Holiday 2026: Respecting public sentiments, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared an additional holiday in the state on March 27, 2026. The main festival of Ram Navami falls on March 26, a day on which a holiday had already been scheduled.

However, with the aim of strengthening security arrangements and accommodating the increasing number of devotees at major temples across the state—including Ayodhya—the government has decided to grant two consecutive days of holidays. This decision will facilitate ease of darshan (worship) for lakhs of Ram devotees and assist the administration in crowd management.

Unprecedented crowds expected at the temples

The primary basis for this government decision is the anticipated unprecedented crowds at the temples. On Ram Navami, a large number of people travel from far-flung areas to offer prayers, thereby placing increased pressure on traffic and security systems. CM Yogi noted that this measure will not only provide relief to devotees but also ensure that government employees have ample time to participate in religious rituals.

Along with announcing the additional holiday, CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the administration to maintain a state of high alert and complete vigilance. Specifically, instructions have been issued to implement robust security measures at major religious hubs such as Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi, in order to prevent any untoward incidents. On this grand festival of faith, this decision by the government brings significant relief to the residents of the state.

All courts to observe holiday on March 27

Meanwhile, while the Ram Navami holiday for the courts was initially declared for March 26, the High Court has now rescheduled it to March 27. Normal court proceedings will continue on March 26. According to the High Court, all courts will observe a holiday on March 27 on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Offerings from Mathura to be Presented as Bhog

Prasad (sacred food offering) has been sent from the Shri Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura to Ayodhya to be offered to Lord Shri Ram on the occasion of Ram Navami. Kapil Sharma, an office-bearer and Secretary of the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, stated that 440 kilograms of Dhania Panjiri, 50 kilograms of Laddoos, along with clothing, fruits, and other offerings, were dispatched to Ayodhya in a beautifully decorated vehicle; during this event, members of the Sansthan and devotees participated in Bhajan-Kirtan

Sharma further informed that, on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, a Bhog (sacred food offering) will be presented to the Lord in Ayodhya on behalf of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
