US Israel Iran Conflict: US President Donald Trump has held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the "current situation in the Middle East."

PM Modi wrote on X: "Received a call from President Trump, and we had a good discussion regarding the situation in West Asia. India supports de-escalation of tensions and the restoration of peace as soon as possible. It is essential that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure, and accessible to all, as it is vital for the entire global community. We agreed to remain in contact regarding efforts to ensure peace and stability."

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, wrote on X: "President Donald Trump just spoke with PM Modi. The two discussed the current situation in the Middle East, including the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open."

Earlier, on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi had stated in the Rajya Sabha that "any obstruction in international waterways, such as the Strait of Hormuz, is unacceptable."

He remarked, "Several ships from around the world are currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, including a significant number of Indian crew members. Since the outbreak of the conflict, maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has become extremely challenging."

PM Modi also mentioned that, following the commencement of the conflict, he has held "two rounds of telephonic conversations with most of the leaders in West Asia."

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump had appealed to various nations across the globe to extend their assistance in keeping the "Strait of Hormuz" open.

Diplomatic Efforts for Peace

President Trump placed this phone call at a juncture when he has temporarily halted planned strikes on Iranian energy installations for a period of five days, with the aim of paving the way for dialogue. In his address to the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi informed the House that India remains in constant contact with Iran, Israel, and the United States in an effort to facilitate the restoration of peace. Furthermore, given that the conflict has triggered a global energy crisis, India is actively seeking to procure oil and gas from every possible source.

Pakistan also ready to mediate

Meanwhile, Pakistan has stated that it is prepared to mediate in an effort to halt the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote on the social media platform X, "Pakistan welcomes and fully supports diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This is essential for peace and stability—not only within this region but beyond it as well."

He further wrote, "Should the United States and Iran agree, Pakistan stands ready—and would feel honored—to host these negotiations, in order to facilitate a comprehensive and concrete resolution to this conflict."

Impact on Global Supply Chains

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is having a direct impact on global supply chains and oil prices. For India, this is a matter concerning both security and the economy, particularly given the recent emergence of various misleading reports regarding Indian tankers. This dialogue makes it clear that the Trump administration views India's role in resolving the Middle East crisis as extremely significant.
