Situated amidst dense forests and rugged hills, this cave holds special significance due to its ancient traditions and unique natural features.

Cave opens for visitors on only one day of the year

According to local belief, the cave opens for visitors on only one day of the year, a rarity that draws a large number of devotees to the site. Reaching the cave requires traversing a strenuous 10-kilometer trek, which includes crossing rivers and streams.

Inside the cave lies a Shivling

Inside the cave lies a Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shivling, a sacred water tank, and a perennial stream known as the 'Shwet Ganga' (White Ganges), features that render it immensely significant from a spiritual perspective.

Since the temple opens only once a year, people cross 16 rivers to reach this place for a glimpse of Lord Mahadev.

People traverse arduous paths to reach this place

People traverse arduous paths to reach this place in order to seek the blessings of Lord Bholenath. Devotees from every corner of the country flock to the Mandip Khol Cave. To reach this destination, devotees must confront numerous hardships; they arrive at the Baba's shrine only after navigating treacherous trails, dense forests, and crossing rivers and streams. This journey is fraught with considerable risk.

In keeping with tradition, once the cave gates are opened, the royal family of Thakurtola performs the initial worship rituals, after which arrangements are made for the general public to offer their prayers and seek darshan.

Prem Kumar Patel, Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, stated that approximately 25,000 devotees are expected to visit this year. In anticipation of this turnout, the administration has undertaken extensive preparations. The Panchayat, Forest, Health, and Police departments are jointly finalizing the necessary arrangements.

To ensure the convenience of the devotees, special provisions have been made regarding health camps, drinking water, parking facilities, lighting, and security. Furthermore, given that the area is a designated forest zone, the administration has appealed to visitors to exercise caution and strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines.
