BJP's Strategy After Women's Reservation Bill Fails in Lok Sabha: Following two days of extensive debate on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, it was put to a vote. During the voting process, 298 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while 230 members voted against it. Consequently, the bill failed to secure the requisite two-thirds majority and could not be passed. However, despite the bill's defeat in Parliament, the BJP has already begun preparations to turn this into a major political issue.

BJP working on a strategy to take this issue to the masses

The party is now working on a strategy to take this issue to the masses and corner the opposition. An NDA meeting is also scheduled to take place after the conclusion of parliamentary proceedings, where the future course of action will be discussed in detail. Indications of this strategy were clearly visible in Amit Shah's speech as well, wherein he repeatedly alleged that the Congress and other opposition parties are not in favor of women's reservation.

Amit Shah slams Opposition parties

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to the social media platform 'X' to state that a truly bizarre spectacle unfolded in the Lok Sabha today. The Congress, TMC, DMK, and the Samajwadi Party prevented the passage of the constitutional amendment bill—essential for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniya (Women's Empowerment Act 2026). He further remarked that voting down a bill aimed at granting 33 percent reservation to women—and subsequently celebrating and raising slogans over bill's defeat—is truly reprehensible and defies imagination.

This insult to Nari Shakti will not end here: Shah

Amit Shah asserted that the women of the country will now be deprived of the 33 percent reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies—a right that was rightfully theirs. This is not the first time the Congress and its allies have acted in this manner; they have done so repeatedly. This mindset of theirs serves neither the interests of women nor those of the nation. I wish to warn them that this insult to Nari Shakti (women's power) will not end here; its repercussions will be far-reaching. The opposition will have to face the wrath of women—not only in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections but at every level, in every election, and in every arena.

PM Modi will be touring West Bengal

Amidst the ongoing assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, the BJP is likely to make this issue a central theme of its election campaign. The party's focus will be on conveying the message that the opposition has adopted a stance against women's interests by stalling a crucial reform such as women's reservation.

As part of this strategy, Narendra Modi will be touring West Bengal. He is scheduled to address a public rally in Krishnanagar, Nadia district, while another rally is proposed for April 24 in North 24 Parganas. During these gatherings, the Prime Minister is likely to bring the issue of the Women's Reservation Bill to the center of the electoral discourse.
