Following Cabinet Approval, Enhanced Remuneration to be Received from May 1; Relief for Lakhs of Shikshamitras

Lucknow: Significant news bringing immense relief to lakhs of Shikshamitras has emerged from Uttar Pradesh. During a Cabinet meeting, the Yogi Adityanath government gave its final seal of approval to a proposal to increase the honorarium of Shikshamitras. Under this decision, Shikshamitras will now receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000, up from the previous Rs 10,000.

More than 1,42,000 Shikshamitras across the state are set to benefit directly from this decision. For the Shikshamitras—who have long been demanding an increase in their honorarium—this decision is being hailed as nothing short of a major relief.

New Salary Structure to Take Effect from May 1

According to information provided by the government, the enhanced honorarium will come into effect on May 1. However, the hike will be deemed effective retroactively from April, with the actual payment reflecting this increase to be disbursed starting in the month of May. Additionally, a substantial increase has also been approved for the honorarium of Anudeshaks (instructors); their remuneration has been raised from Rs 9,000 to 17,000.

Benefits Realized After a Long Wait

Shikshamitras in UP have been demanding an increase in their honorarium for several years. There have been numerous protests and demonstrations over time, following which the government has now taken a significant step in this direction. Experts believe that this decision will not only strengthen the economic condition of the Shikshamitras but also have a positive impact on the overall education system.

New University to be Established in Gorakhpur

Another major decision related to the education sector was taken during the cabinet meeting. A plan to establish a University of Forestry and Technology in Campierganj, Gorakhpur, has been approved. Approximately Rs 491 crore will be invested in this project, and 50 hectares of land have been allocated for its establishment. In addition to higher education, the university will also provide facilities for vocational training.

Green Signal for the Purchase of 25 Lakh Tablets

The Cabinet has also approved a proposal to procure 25 lakh tablets under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana (Youth Empowerment Scheme). According to the government, more than 60 lakh smartphones and tablets have already been distributed to students to date. The objective of this scheme is to digitally empower the youth and integrate technology into education.

Overall, this decision by the UP Cabinet is being hailed as a significant boon for Shikshamitras. While the hike in their honorarium is expected to improve their economic condition, it is also likely to have a positive ripple effect on the education sector. All eyes are now focused on observing the actual impact this decision will have at the grassroots level.
