MP Khargone: BJP Leaders Intensify Demands in Kumbh Viral Girl Monalisa Case, Call for Her Return and Strict Action

Khargone: The voices of BJP leaders have grown louder following the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes' investigative report, which identified Monalisa—the "Kumbh viral girl" from Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district—as a minor in the case concerning her marriage in Kerala. Public representatives have demanded the girl's repatriation and strict legal action against the accused.

According to Commission Chairman Antar Singh Arya, an inquiry was initiated, and reports were sought from officials in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala based on a petition submitted by a social activist. 

Subsequently, an investigative team was constituted; it conducted inquiries and gathered documents in Kerala and in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, during which the girl in question was found to be both a minor and a member of a tribal community. Based on this report, the Commission has directed relevant state officials to take action and has sought an "Action Taken Report" within three days.

Victim's family is hopeful of securing justice: MP Patel

Gajendra Singh Patel, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Khargone-Barwani Lok Sabha constituency, stated that the victim's family is hopeful of securing justice following the Commission's investigation. He alleged that the marriage was solemnized based on forged documents and suggested that other individuals may also be involved in the conspiracy. He demanded that action be taken against the accused under the POCSO Act, among other relevant legal provisions.

Girl she was lured into marriage through inducement: MLA Mev

Speaking at a press conference, Rajkumar Mev, the MLA for Maheshwar, asserted that there is ample evidence proving the girl's status as a minor and that she was lured into the marriage through inducement. He demanded the girl's immediate return and strict punitive action against the accused individuals involved.

BJP Mandal President Vikram Patel also demanded the punishment for the culprits, reiterating the allegation that the marriage was facilitated through the creation of forged documents. The girl's family members were also present during these proceedings and made an emotional appeal for her safe return. 

NHRC issues notice to SP

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also taken cognizance of the matter, issuing a notice to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khargone and directing him to apprise the Commission of the action taken within three days.
