Now tribal players of Chhattisgarh will shine; cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar inaugurates multi-sports ground in Dantewada
Dantewada: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday inaugurated a multi-sports ground—constructed in collaboration with the Mann Deshi Foundation—at the Swami Atmanand Hindi Medium High School in the village of Chhindnar, located in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. This initiative is being hailed as a significant step toward expanding sports facilities in the region's tribal belt and encouraging young talent.
Chetna Sinha, founder of the Mann Deshi Foundation, was also present at the event. Various sporting activities were organized to mark the inauguration, in which children participated with great enthusiasm. Games such as tug-of-war, volleyball, running races, and Kho-Kho helped foster team spirit and self-confidence among the students.
Sachin tells youth to maintain a balance
Speaking on the occasion, Tendulkar stated that preparing future athletes requires not only talent but also robust sports infrastructure. He advised the youth to maintain a balance between sports and education, and to embrace discipline and hard work. He added that participation in various sports helps develop the mental and strategic capabilities of athletes.
Sports grounds are being developed in 50 villages
Under the Foundation's plan, sports grounds are being developed in approximately 50 villages across the region, where games such as football and kabaddi will be promoted alongside cricket.
During the event, local students shared details regarding the sporting activities, and the winning participants were felicitated. The children also celebrated Tendulkar's upcoming birthday in advance by cutting a cake.
Bastar youth possess immense potential
District Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv remarked that the Bastar region is now moving forward on the path of peace and development, and that the youth of the area possess immense potential. He stated that such initiatives would provide local talent with the opportunity to gain recognition at both national and international levels.
The event was attended by administrative officials, elected representatives, and a large number of villagers.
