Steep hike in commercial LPG cylinder price, check new rates

Amid supply disruptions caused by the crisis in West Asia, oil marketing companies have announced a substantial hike in the prices of 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinders, effective from Wednesday.

According to information received from Indian Oil Corporation—the country's largest oil marketing company—a 19-kilogram LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 2,078.50 in the national capital, Delhi, starting April 1. Its price had previously been raised to Rs 1,883 on March 7. Consequently, the price has now gone up by Rs 195.50—an increase of 10.38 percent.

This marks the fifth price hike for commercial LPG cylinders since January 1 of this year. During this period, the price in Delhi has risen by a total of Rs 498.

There has been no change in the price of the 14-kilogram LPG cylinder used for domestic purposes. Its price was last increased by Rs 60 on March 7, and it currently stands at ₹913 per cylinder in Delhi.

In Kolkata, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has risen by Rs 218 (10.95 percent) to reach 2,208 effective April 1; similarly, in Mumbai, a hike of 196 (10.68 percent) has pushed the price to 2,031.

In Chennai, the price has increased by 203 (9.93 percent), bringing the cost to 2,246.50 per cylinder.
